Digital Laryngeal Videostroboscopy

The digital laryngeal videostroboscopy system helps clinicians evaluate the structure and function of the voice box (larynx). It provides vivid details of the movement of the vocal folds during speech. Using strobe-lighting, pictures of the vocal folds' vibrations can be combined into snapshots to produce a slow-motion slideshow video illustrating function.

Who may benefit from the digital laryngeal videostroboscopy system?

Individuals with:

  • Voice disorders
  • Suspected abnormalities in the throat (i.e., paralyzed vocal folds, vocal nodules, vocal polyps, Reinke's edema, smoker's polyps)

How does the digital laryngeal videostroboscopy strobe system work?

  • Allows for the accurate diagnosis of vocal pathology and vocal function through high magnification and slow-motion features
  • Assists in the identification and diagnosis of vocal pathology and vocal movement disorders that cannot be seen by the naked eye
  • Provides real-time visual biofeedback to improve voice production skills

What are the advantages of using the digital strobe system?

It allows for a precise diagnosis, which is essential to the development of the voice rehabilitation program.
