The Marianjoy Orthopaedic/Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program

The Marianjoy Orthopaedic/Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program focuses on patients resuming or achieving active lifestyle goals.

The program specializes in treating individuals who have had:

  • Joint replacement
  • Amputation
  • Arthritis
  • Diseases that affect bones and muscles
  • Orthopaedic trauma, such as a fracture, sports injury or other trauma

Marianjoy's Orthopaedic/Musculoskeletal Program benefits patients by:

  • Enhancing function and well-being
  • Providing education and resources
  • Promoting physical activity and improving body image
  • Encouraging a commitment for active lifestyle goals

Much of the program focuses on education and constant practice. We review routine physical activities, examining the most effective and comfortable ways to return patients to an active and productive lifestyle. We place a strong emphasis on educating our patients and their families. Our educational offerings include:

  • Family counseling/support: family members and loved ones learning how to manipulate prosthetic devices and equipment.
  • Peer support: encouraging patients to attend peer meetings and support groups to discuss the challenges and emotions patients face, and to learn more about how to manage their life at home.
  • Vocational and academic services: helping high school and college students prepare to return to school, as well as preparing professionals who plan to return to work.
